Cookie Policy

Last updated 2 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-02

We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Almost everything below is needed to run the product or is something you chose. This page lists every item, says what it is for and how long it lasts, and explains how to control them.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that the site can recognise the browser on a later page or a later visit. Browsers offer similar storage that works the same way (“local storage” and “session storage”); we list what we keep there too.

2. What we store, and why

The categories mean:

  • Strictly necessary: the product does not work without it, for example keeping you signed in. The law does not require consent for these.
  • Functional: remembers a choice you made, such as the conference you were working on or a hidden sidebar. It is set only when you make that choice.
  • Exempt (your own input): stores a setting you chose yourself, such as your language.
  • Loaded after you dismiss the notice: not set until you have dismissed the cookie notice.

3. Cookies set by other companies

  • Security and delivery (Cloudflare). Bazm is delivered through Cloudflare, which also protects it from automated abuse. Its bot protection runs a script on our pages and sets the cookies listed above (currently cf_clearance). Cloudflare may also set short-lived security cookies such as __cf_bm when its bot detection runs. The Turnstile check on the sign-in, sign-up and password-recovery forms sets no cookie of its own, whether it runs in your browser or in the web page the mobile app runs it in. Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page loads and how quickly they load, does not use cookies or local storage. Cloudflare is described on the sub-processors page.
  • Live chat (tawk.to). The chat and its cookies load only on our support and enquiry pages (/contact, /partners and /app/support), and only once you have dismissed the cookie notice. It is not loaded on any other page. If you go from one of those pages to another part of the site without reloading, the chat stays connected but hidden until the page is reloaded.
  • Payments (Stripe). On pages that can take a card payment, such as checkout, the cart and the room-booking form, Stripe’s payment script loads and sets cookies it uses to prevent fraud.
  • Content an organiser embeds. A conference website can include a venue map (Google Maps or OpenStreetMap), a font from Google Fonts, and videos or posts from YouTube and LinkedIn, and can show images hosted elsewhere. We embed YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode. When a page includes one of these, your browser fetches it from that company, which sees your IP address and may set its own cookies. We do not control those.

Error reports from the website are sent through our own server and store nothing in your browser.

4. The mobile app

Apart from one page, the Bazm mobile app does not use cookies. That page is the web page inside the app where it runs the security check on sign-in, sign-up and password recovery. There the Cloudflare cookies described above may be set; they stay in the app on your phone, not in your browser. What the app keeps on your phone, and the usage statistics you can switch off, are described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Your choices

  • You can delete cookies and other site data, or block them, in your browser’s settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in.
  • The live chat stays off until you dismiss the cookie notice. To switch it off again, delete this site’s cookies in your browser; the notice then returns.
  • Clearing site data also removes the identifiers that stop one device voting or answering a survey twice, your theme and language choices, and whether you see your received business cards as cards or as a list.

6. Changes to this policy

When we add or remove a cookie we update the table above and the date at the top of this page. Significant changes are recorded on the legal page.
